Originally from a small town in Bosnia, I immigrated to the US with my parents in the late 90’s. We settled on the outskirt suburbs of Atlanta and my teenage years would see a welcoming change in scenery from the eastern-block uniformity I was accustomed to. Much of my time was spent outdoors; sports with friends, hiking trails, rivers and lakes- any place that would invoke a ‘woah look at that’ within us. Luckily GA has much of that to go around.
My family would go back to Bosnia during our summer breaks from school. Most family members had been scattered across 5 different countries. This is probably where my itch for travel stems from. I’ve seen most of Europe backpacking from place to place with no itinerary. Taking jobs at Hostels to extend my stay from time to time. Meeting incredible people and making soon to be cherished memories- that was my job.
Ultimately the bills keep coming and you can’t pay the credit card companies with great stories, so back the US I would go to my stable yet unfulfilling sales career. Always yearning for the next trip in mind.
The early YouTube pioneers in the sailing community certainly had me hooked early on. I had sailed small sunfish 14’s around the lakes of GA as I continued dreaming and squirreling away what I could for the chance to buy a vessel and set sail myself one day.
I would later meet Alexis at an American right-of-passage known as ‘Spring Break’. We quickly became great friends and as the years went on, the tides came and went we decided to embark on an adventure ourselves as a couple. Selling her on this lifestyle came easy as we had known one another for over a decade. Within that time we watched Delos and LaVagaBonde sail around the world as that’s all that would stream over the TV at home. We soon moved down to St.Petersburg FL and came to purchase Cimarron. The rest is history waiting to be written.
I was born and raised in North Georgia. We moved around the area quite a bit as a kid so there are a few cities I still call “home”. I grew up with a village, my parents divorced when I was young, both working and my dad traveling often so my family was always around to help. We went to church on Sundays, saw our grandparents often, and spent tons of time outdoors. I had an adventurous childhood hiking the mountains, hunting, fishing, tubing on the lake, playing sports and video games with my brother and cousins. I also enjoyed puzzles, drawing, and diving into a good book. We took family vacations to the Florida beaches often where I fell in love with the ocean, its creatures, and tales of the sea.
I decided as an early teen I wanted to live on the water and become a surf legend. After spending time surfing, I quickly realized a pro-surf life wasn’t for me, but the beach life I could do. As I moved into my 20’s my dreams grew. I wanted to travel the world, see every coast, meet every dolphin, sea turtle, and otter I could; and live life on a wave, not a schedule.
In 2020 I took a trip to Cocoa Beach, Fl and invited Denis, my best friend of many years along with me. We shared our dreams of living on the water, exploring the world on a sailboat, the places we wanted to visit, things we wanted to do and how amazing it would be to build this life together. We wrapped things up in Atlanta, transferred our jobs to St. Pete, Fl and after almost a year of searching we purchased our beautiful home, Cimarron. Here we are now prepping to set sail on the adventure of a lifetime.
